This report details the findings of a rapid field assessment of 5 industrial and 3 artisanal mining sites in Sierra Leone undertaken between Wednesday 21st and 25th March, 2012. The field assessment was conducted to identify and prioritise issues in support of mine rehabilitation and mine closure planning. The field assessment team included the authors and representatives of the Environmental Protection Agency - Sierra Leone, the Ministry of Mineral Resources, and the Ministry of Land, Country Planning and the Environment.
